Bud Selig, chairman of Major League Baseball’s Executive Council, will announce a ruling on the Marge Schott case Wednesday morning at a Chicago hotel, according to reliable baseball sources.
Schott, owner of the Cincinnati Reds, has been accused of making racial and ethnic slurs. The council is expected to suspend her from participation in baseball matters for one year.
Baseball owners set up a four-person committee to investigate Schott after former Reds employees said in court depositions that she had used racial slurs and other offensive language.

Schott has apologized for the slurs, and her lawyer has threatened to sue the other owners if they do anything more than fine her.
The Executive Council interviewed Schott on Jan. 22. It could fine Schott up to $250,000 and suspend her.
