A teachers strike continued into its second day Thursday at District 36 schools.
Schools remained closed in the district, which serves 270 students from a 5-square-mile unincorporated section of northwest Lake County near Antioch.
At issue are teacher salaries. Grass Lake teachers are paid the lowest teacher wages in Lake County.

The teachers are asking for a 10.6-percent raise that they say will bring their salaries in line with those paid by other area districts. The administration says the request is unreasonable.
The next negotiating session is scheduled for Sunday.
