The village’s cable commission no longer will appoint its own members, following the adoption of a new ordinance.

Trustees said that under the ordinance, they will get final approval on filling vacancies. Cable commissioners will continue to vote on the nominees, but nominations will go to the Village Board.
“Basically, they’re the only commission in this village that doesn’t have to do this,” said Trustee James Addington. “That glitch in the procedure meant they didn’t come under the Village Board’s control.”
Trustee William Rahn said the ordinance will not greatly change the commission’s oversight of village programming on cable access Channel 51.
“Even the library has to come to us for final approval on some issues,” said Rahn. “This is just pulling the commission in line with all the rest.”
