No one could fault the Northeastern Illinois women`s basketball team for being rankled recently. They lost their last three games, including consecutive home games against nationally ranked DePaul and Auburn, to drop to 0-8 for the season.
The Golden Eagles lost to No. 21 DePaul 87-48 Dec. 15. A lack of rebounding contributed to the loss. Northeastern was outrebounded 55-29, and shot only .328. Cyndie Donner led the team with 13 points.
Rebounding and shooting woes plagued Northeastern again in a 68-42 loss to No. 17 Auburn Dec. 18. The Golden Eagles trailed by only 13 after the first half, but shot a poor .286 in the second half. Northeastern also was outrebounded, 51-22. Pam Osterbrink and Shelly Hurst led Northeastern with 12 points.
Northeastern also lost to Evansville 76-59 on Sunday.
