Hey, Where`s Your Brother? (Pointblank)
(STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
He may be closing in on 50, but blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter shows no signs of mellowing out on his second album for the Pointblank label. Recorded in Chicago with local producer Dick Shurman, ”Hey, Where`s Your Brother?” breaks no new ground previously untrod on umpteen previous Winter albums, but his razor-sharp guitar on tracks like the lascivious ”She Like to Boogie Real Low” and the rockin` ”Sick and Tired” remains as potent as ever. ”Johnny Guitar” is sort of Winter`s answer to ”Johnny B. Goode,”
while brother Edgar soulfully duets with Johnny on the Charles Brown R & B chestnut, ”Please Come Home for Christmas.” Finally, Winter dispenses some advice about women on ”Check Out Her Mama” because, in his words, ”she`s gonna look just like her mama on somewhere down the line.” Not essential, but energizing.
