After losing to eventual champion Washington State in the semifinals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championships Sunday in Kansas City, Mo., NIU coach Pete Waite vowed his Huskies would be back-in a postseason tournament next year.

The Huskies (33-6) defeated Loyola-Marymount, George Washington, Murray State and Southwest Missouri State to reach the semifinals, then lost to Washington State 15-13, 15-9, 15-9.

Senior Wendy Mason and junior Amy Foulke made the 12-player all-tournament team. Foulke set a tournament record with 14 blocks against Loyola Marymount and she had 37 blocks and 48 kills in five matches. Mason had 81 kills.

Sophomore setter Shelby Snyder finished the season with 1,600 assists, giving her 3,189 in just two years, a school record.
