Village Council members say they will rescind a resolution they passed earlier this year protesting a 5.1-acre development just outside village boundaries because developers have agreed to scale down the project.
Commissioners, concerned that the 56-unit Maplewood town home development was so dense it would create parking and snowplowing problems if ever annexed into the village, passed the resolution in July to ensure the development would need to be approved by three-fourths of the County Board. Village officials also filed a formal objection to the development with the county`s Zoning Board of Appeals.
The development is planned for a site in unincorporated Du Page County just west of Belmont Avenue at Maple Avenue.

But after working with county and village planners, developer Ray Urich said he is willing to build only 42 units on the property to keep it within village standards. Urich said he might also consider changing the name of the development to avoid confusion with Maplewood Terrace, a street in the village.
