After watching Richard Keene struggle with turnovers in the Great Alaska Shootout, Illinois head coach Lou Henson is moving his talented freshman out of the high-pressure point guard position. Keene will become the backup off-guard.
The change goes into effect when the Fighting Illini meet Illinois-Chicago Thursday night in Assembly Hall. Henson said Rennie Clemons, returning from a thigh bruise, is expected to start at the point.
Keene started at the point in Illinois` opener last week in Alaska, but Henson quickly benched him. The former all-stater from Collinsville finished the tournament with eight turnovers, nine points and three assists.
