MAYOR TO MAKE RE-ELECTION BID BY ENTERING PRIMARY

Mayor Bobby Thompson will make his re-election bid official with an announcement that he will enter the Feb. 23 Democratic primary race.

Thompson, who served as an alderman for six years before becoming mayor 10 years ago, will make his announcement and open his campaign headquarters Monday at 7 p.m. in the North Chicago Inn, 2315 Green Bay Rd.

Thompson`s long-anticipated announcement makes the North Chicago mayor`s race even more crowded. Five Democrats-Ald. Sylvester Neal, North Chicago Police Officer Rich McKissick, Brian Oglesby, Joe Glusic and Jerry Johnson-already have announced their candidacies, as has Independent Randy Swopes.
