A homeless man was killed by a hit-and-run motorist Tuesday morning after he apparently wandered into the middle of traffic on U.S. Highway 41 in Lake Bluff.
Paul Danovich, 51, was pronounced dead on the scene, said James Wipper, chief deputy coroner for the Lake County Coroner`s Office. Police say they believe Danovich was a transient.
The accident occurred on U.S. 41 about a half mile north of Illinois Highway 176. Danovich`s body was discovered lying against a median shortly after 7 a.m. by a passing motorist, who alerted police, said Lake County Sheriff`s Cpl. John Jansky.
There were no witnesses to the accident, Jansky said. Danovich`s clothing will be examined by an area crime lab to look for paint chips from the vehicle, police said.
