Community Unit School District 303 officials are looking at staggered high school schedules and elementary school redistricting as short-term solutions to overcrowding problems.

A staggered schedule will likely be implemented for the 1993-94 school year.

”The only thing that would change that is if (administrative offices)

move out, in which case we could probably get by for another year,” Supt. John Vanko said.

Under the staggered schedule, students would still attend seven periods each day. School officials said they plan to enact a schedule that would eliminate gaps in the middle of a student`s day.

Vanko also said it is likely that elementary school boundaries will have to be changed for 1993-94.

”This past year, we were very fortunate that we did not have to redistrict,” Vanko said. ”We think there will have to be some redistricting in 1993-94.”

And redistricting will be done to minimize student displacement as the district implements long-range growth solutions, Vanko said.

”We want to develop a plan so they don`t have to move every year,” he said.
