ILLINOIS 53 NOISE STUDY SET

The Illinois Department of Transportation will measure noise levels over 10 days beginning Wednesday along a variety of existing roadways near the proposed Illinois Highway 53 extension route.

IDOT initiated the monitoring program in response to concerns raised by the Corridor Planning Council of Lake County about how noise might affect those living or working near the proposed extension.

Results of the monitoring, to be conducted under many conditions, could be used when planning noise abatement solutions.

Measurements will be taken from Wednesday through Oct. 16 in Grayslake, Mettawa, Mundelein, Long Grove, Kildeer and Hawthorn Woods.
