Walther (4-1), behind 27-8 at halftime, pulled within 34-32 with 5:29 left on a 12-yard run by Tirrell Robinson (17 carries, 146 yards, 2 TDs) and Maurice Chisom`s two-point conversion.
Nazareth`s John Steinbach then punted to Walther`s 2-yard line. Two plays later Baxter Swilley recovered a fumble to set up Cason`s clinching 1-yard scoring run with 2:36 left.
”It can be scary when you get up by 10 points like that; the kids tend to get a little too relaxed,” said Nazareth coach Dennis Moran. ”But our defense came through when we needed them with some big fumble recoveries.”

”That goal-line stand in the first quarter was the key for us,” said IC coach John Padjen.
”I had to do well on that goal line stand since I turned the ball over,” Muisenga said. ”I really made every effort to atone for my mistake.” Oswego 36, East St. Louis Lincoln 6-Scott Wulff carried 19 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns to lead Oswego (5-0) to the non-conference road victory.
