To help the victims of Hurricane Andrew, the College of Lake County will hold a relief drive from noon to 7 p.m. on Monday
The following supplies are needed: Non-perishable canned goods, bottled water, can openers, plastic silverware, personal items, such as deodorant or toothpaste, blankets, sheets, pillows, cleaning supplies, rubber gloves, work gloves, toilet paper, D and C cell batteries, food, infant supplies, flashlights, over-the-counter medicine, empty boxes, insect spray, cooking utensils and hand tools.
”This was the idea of the CLC Student Senate,” said Lyla Chandy, college spokeswoman. ”It is a desire to help people who are in need.”
College officials say they do not know how much to expect, but an area resident has volunteered the use of his truck to take the supplies to Florida. ”We are hoping to get at least a truckload,” she said.
Donations will be accepted in the Physical Education Center, Building 7. The college is at 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.
