Resident David Tannenbaum is seeking an injunction to stop the Beach Park electoral board from ruling on a set of petitions he submitted this month.

The board has scheduled a Friday evening meeting to consider a challenge to the petitions, which call for a November voter referendum on the possibility of electing Village Board members by district.

The challenge charges that Tannenbaum did not submit the petitions on time.

Tannenbaum argues the members of the electoral board-the mayor, the clerk and a board member-stand to be affected by the outcome of the referendum and that the challenge should be heard by the county electoral board instead.

Tannenbaum filed suit on Thursday morning, according to Circuit Court Clerk Sally Coffelt`s office. His petition for injunction was expected to be heard Friday morning.
