Sure, your pet gets plenty of your love and attention.
But two entrepreneurs think Fluffy and Fido are entitled to more.
”It started out as a joke, but it`s turned out to be pretty exciting,”
says Harriet McCormick, a New Jersey dog owner who is planning to publish the first ”Who`s Who in American Pets.”
McCormick, an executive-search firm owner, says she hit on the idea several years ago when she perused a ”Who`s Who” for humans.
Teaming with colleague Norma Calitri, McCormick embarked on the venture, and now has amassed more than 1,000 submissions for the compendium, planned for publication in December.
”We`ve gotten cats, dogs, horses, ducks, geese, turtles, snakes, even a rooster with its own room,” says McCormick.
There`s no cost to nominate pets for inclusion in the book (though to include a pet photo costs $10). The submission deadline is Sept. 30. Pre-publication costs $39.95. Post publication price is $59.95. To order it call 215-493-8227, or write: Jeffrey Frank Daniels Co., P.O. Box 1250, Princeton, N.J. 08540.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, accountant John Breen is planning a similar animal companion salute. More than 1,000 submissions also have flowed in for listing in his ”Who`s Who of American Pets.”
”People are pretty funny in writing about their pets,” says Breen, who was inspired by his canine, whom he describes as a rambunctious mixed breed Great Pyrenees hound.
”One wrote about a dog who caught a blimp in a pasture,” says Breen.
It costs $5 for inclusion in Breen`s book, which has a $30 pre-publication price tag; $35 after it`s published in October. Write: P.O. Box 2820, Durham, N.C. 27715. Deadline is Sept. 1.
