Seven candidates filed Monday to run for positions on the school board of the new North Shore School District 112.
The seven-member board will be elected in November to oversee District 112, which is being formed by the merger of Highland Park districts 107 and 108 and Highwood-Highland Park District 111. The three school systems will merge in July 1993.
The candidates were selected in June by a 77-member citizens group, called the North Shore School District 112 Caucus, from among 16 people who sought to be endorsed.
Slate members drawn from District 107 are: David Leibowitz, 42, an attorney; Janet Tabin, 46, formerly an instructor at the College of Lake County; and Gary Wilner, 52, a cardiologist and senior attending physician at Evanston Hospital. Slate candidates living in District 108 are: Steven Narrod, 41, a self-employed businessman; and Susan Stein, 40, a financial consultant. District 111 slate members are: Carol Rothstein, 39, a self-employed accountant; and Richard Fenton, 38, an attorney.
Candidates have until Monday to file for the District 112 school board, said Edward Gonwa, regional superintendent of schools.
