City Manager Donald Eppley has tendered his resignation after six years of service and sometimes contentious relations with some City Council members. Eppley, 51, handed in his letter of resignation in a surprise announcement to the council this week. Although he has occasionally been at odds with Mayor Daniel Pierce, neither openly blamed that tension for Eppley`s resignation.
”I`ve been here for six years, and I just think it`s time to move on,”
Eppley said.
”I regret that he is leaving,” Pierce said. Pierce credited Eppley with strengthening the city`s downtown business district during his tenure. ”He got it on a sound financial basis,” Pierce said.
Eppley`s resignation is effective Oct. 2. Eppley said he will not retire, but look for another job in city government.
