Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting a fire early Tuesday at a home in unincorporated McHenry County, just south of Island Lake. The fire occurred in a one-story home at 4911 Little Drive owned by 52-year-old Gad Margalit, Wauconda Fire Capt. Bill Glade said.

The home was engulfed in flames when the fire department arrived and Margalit, who was not injured, was waiting outside, Glade said. The fire was extinguished in about 40 minutes but the home was destroyed.

The firefighters were treated and released from Good Shephard Hospital in Barrington. Firefighter Kevin Pyne, 28, had fallen through the floor;

firefighter Michael Crown, 31, was suffering from heat exhaustion, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
