A Band-Aid proposal to remedy the overcrowded Lake County court system was met with favor by some county officials during preliminary consideration of the $5.5-million plan by the Law and Judicial Committee Tuesday.

Though a $48 million building with 15 courtrooms will eventually have to be built, County Board Chairman Robert Depke is backing a plan to renovate the old county jail to provide six courtrooms to ease overcrowding.
