Tired of your tot intruding on your attempts at shedding your post-pregnancy pounds?
That`s what happened to Laura Brown, a Newport News, Va., aerobics instructor who was thwarted by her infant son, Brielin.
”He was real fussy,” says Brown, 31. ”I`d put him in the (health club) nursery, and he`d just cry until I came to get him.
”One day, I just took him and started working out with him in the back of the class, and it worked wonderfully.”
That was the inspiration for Brown`s Baby-n-Momerobics fitness program that she teaches at a local health club and showcases in a video. The tape features Brown demonstrating low-impact exercise moves that use Junior as a prop.
Included is Baby Bench Press: Mom lies on her back and hoists baby into the air with arms outstretched, then lowers baby back to her chest. ”Just like using barbells,” says Brown.

Also, Baby Airplane: Again, Mom reclines, bending knees and placing baby facing her on her shins, then lifts baby up and toward her, then back down.
”If you add a crunch (situp), it`s even better,” Brown says.
The tape also includes safety instructions on how to properly support baby for the regimen, 10 minutes of warmup exercises, a 20-minute aerobic program and a cool-down session. A post-workout infant massage also is covered.
”The babies just love it,” says Brown. ”They like the motion, and the younger ones usually just fall asleep.”
Older offspring-the class imposes a 25-pound weight limit, rather than an age restriction-sometimes take a break from the exercising by playing with other baby exercise partners.
”The idea is to help mothers get back in shape, and still spend time with their babies,” Brown says.
