NHL President John Ziegler said Friday that he would meet next month in Montreal with a committee of the Board of Governors to discuss his contract, which runs through the 1995-96 season. The move follows the recent disclosure that Hawks owner Bill Wirtz would step down as chairman of the board. Wirtz has been a long-time supporter of Ziegler.
– Hawks Senior Vice President Bob Pulford has an eagle eye. He watched Rob Brown working on a stick he was giving away and asked him: ”Who`s stick is that?” Brown answered: ”Mine.” Pulford said: ”No, it`s the team`s.” Brown came back with: ”OK, take the $22 from my bonus when we win the Stanley Cup.” The exchange was made in a joking manner, but when Brown walked away, Pulford said with a broad smile: ”He thinks I was joking. I`ll take the $22 out.”
