If credit card spending is driving you to debt distraction, a consumer group has a way to help you use restraint: credit card condoms.
Actually paper sleeves that slip over your plastic currency, the condoms are intended to make consumers pause before spending.
Impulse buying via credit cards can have ”a far greater negative impact on one`s financial future than any investment,” says Paul Richard, a vice president of the non-profit National Center for Financial Education which has created the condoms as part of its ”Safe Charge Kit.”
The kit also includes warning stickers to affix to the cards and tips on developing responsible spending habits.
To obtain a kit write: N.C.F.E., P.O. Box 34070, San Diego, Calif., 92163. It costs $3, but ”Sorry, you can`t charge it,” says Richard. Send a check or money order instead.
