Barneys New York, the retailer that`s bringing a branch to the corner of Oak and Rush Streets come fall, has long been known for its exceedingly stylish ads-ads with witty or dramatic or eye-catching photos and even ever-so-clever words.

For the past four months, Barneys has been running a series of ”Some of Our Favorite Things” ads. Two of those things are always actual merchandise while the others are more fanciful, such as ”waiters who remain nameless” or ”sincere dry cleaners” or ”the mute button.”

Demonstrating just how terribly au courant and hip Barneys is, one of the ”favorite things” ads last week included:

1. ”Amplifiers that go to eleven.” 2. A Ronaldus Shamask blazer, shirt with hidden buttons, tie. 3. Vintage tie silk bags.

4. ”Not inhaling.”
