A private skyline: The Chicago skyline can now be viewed from the Lake Forest home of Drs. Himani and Deepak Dalia. Waukegan artist Jim Harrington is the creator of the 5-by-10-foot glass and fresco sculpture, ”Chicago Lights,”
that depicts Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, the lakefront and the city skyline.
Renowned science fiction author Ray Bradbury, a friend of Harrington`s, joined a group of about 20 guests for the recent unveiling at the Dalias`
home.
The most unusual aspect of the sculpture is the way in which it is lit from behind, according to Harrington. The lighting changes, bringing out different colors in the glass to depict the skyline at sunset, at night and on a wintry morning.

”When we asked Jim to do a sculpture for a living room, we said that we always like something unusual. The lighting is a way of getting something new out of a common topic, the Chicago skyline,” Himani Dalia noted. ”It took a long time to get it just right, but it worked out great. It`s really amazing.”
