Bryan Hanania took a dive Friday night and blew the oldest men`s swimming record at Northern Illinois out of the water.
The senior from Chicago scored a 322.20 in 1-meter diving, breaking Jim Reynolds` school record of 314.70 set in 1973.
It was just one of six season-best performances by the Huskies as they defeated Illinois-Chicago 124-116 in the seasons` final home meet. NIU`s women fared just as well, getting four season bests and a 150-88 victory over UIC.
It was the perfect tuneup for Saturday`s season finale, which should be a dandy. The Huskies travel to unbeaten Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where NIU grad and former coach Dave Clark now runs the show. Clark left De Kalb last summer after running the men`s swimming program for 10 years.
Net gain: Following an 8-1 setback against powerful Wisconsin on Saturday, the men`s tennis team returned home to beat Eastern Michigan 8-1 Sunday. Dustin Dobrin recorded two wins at No. 2 singles, winning 7-5, 6-0 at Wisconsin and 6-2, 6-1 against Eastern Michigan.
Pinned: The wrestling team fell to sixth-ranked Northern Iowa 51-0 and to Illinois State 30-24 Saturday. Junior T.C. Dantzler, who saw his seven-match win streak snapped in a 6-4 loss against Northern Iowa, pinned his 158-pound ISU opponent in 1 minute, 15 seconds.
