Top-ranked Duke not only lost its game to North Carolina Wednesday night. It also lost point guard Bobby Hurley, with a broken ankle. He is expected to miss at least three weeks.
In his place running the Blue Devils when they face LSU Saturday will be sophomore Grant Hill, who has been starting beside him as the 2 guard. Hill, 6 feet 8 inches, played the point as a freshman and senior in high school and, ocassionally, at Duke.
He spent his most notable time there in Duke`s upset of Nevada-Las Vegas in last season`s national semifinals.
”Bobby did so much for the team. He was such a threat offensively and defensively,” Hill said Thursday. ”So not only me, but everyone, has to surge their level of play and be strong.”
