Katie Webster
No Foolin`! (Alligator) (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
It`s almost criminal that Bay area blues pianist-vocalist Katie Webster has done nearly 30 tours of Europe in the past 10 years but remains little known in her native country. On her third album for Chicago`s Alligator Records, the ”Swamp Boogie Queen” provides the strongest incentive yet for people to discover her music. Simply put, ”No Foolin`!” is one of the finest blues albums you`ll ever hear. From the rollicking ”A Little Meat on the Side” to the bawdy ”Hard Lovin` Mama” and her homage to her Louisiana roots on ”Zydeco Shoes and California Blues,” Webster takes you on a musical journey celebrating the music she has been playing most of her life.
