The latest in a veritable epidemic of tribute albums,-with recent honorees ranging from the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan to Roy Rogers-this labor-of-love salute is the second for poet-songwriter-crooner Leonard Cohen, if you include Jennifer Warnes` lovely ”Famous Blue Raincoat.” Conceived by French rock journalist Christian Fevret, ”I`m Your Fan” offers an eclectic selection of songs from Cohen`s melancholy/romantic oeuvre, as interpreted by 18 cutting-edge, college-chart rockers (including R.E.M., Pixies, Fatima Mansions). The songs-culled from nearly 25 years worth of Cohen albums-sound fresh and are performed as if they were gifts from worshipful students to a beloved teacher.
