Aurora Central Catholic 62, Luther North 48-Aurora (7-3, 4-2 in the Private School League) got 15 points from Andy Oros. Matt Harfott had 12 to lead Luther (3-5, 1-4).

Batavia 70, Morristown, Ind. 67-Corey Williams blocked a last-second, three-point shot by Brady Atkins (39 points) and poured in 27 points with 10 rebounds as Batavia (7-1) won in the Coca-Cola Tom Kelley Shootout in Anderson, Ind. Pete Hrejsa added 16 for Batavia.

”I thought we played pretty well most of the time, got a little careless some times,” said Batavia coach Jim Roberts.

Carmel 71, Hersey 55-Chris Mohr scored 24 points to pace Carmel (6-2) to the non-conference victory in Arlington Heights. Jermaine Williams scored 14 for the Corsairs.

Carmel outscored Hersey (5-3) 14-2 to take a 48-35 lead with 2:04 left in the third quarter. The Huskies had pulled to within 34-33 with an 8-2 run. The Corsairs scored the first 11 points of the fourth quarter for a 61-39 lead.

”We were in another zone for a while there (in the third quarter), and we let them back in it,” said Carmel coach Scott Rosberg. ”We just had to re-establish our full-court pressure game. When we were able to do that we got them out of their offensive flow.”

Dan Larson led Hersey with 18 points.

Downers Grove North 58, Leyden 42-Downers North (6-3) had six players score seven points or more to win the non-conference game. Steve Smith led the way with nine points and Marlan Canady added eight. ”Everyone got involved with the offense,” said Downers coach Walt Matune, whose team had a 12-1 run in the first quarter to take control of the game. Jason Stella had 11 points for Leyden (1-6).

Geneva 60, Morris 57-Geneva (5-3, 3-1 in the Little Seven) was led by Jeff Shafer (20 points) and Daryn Peterson (16). Morris (5-3, 3-2) outscored Geneva 28-25 in the second half to make it close.

Glenbard South 40, Fenton 31-Rich Albaugh scored six of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Raiders (5-4) broke out of a 24-24 tie after three quarters for the non-conference road victory.

J.J. Pena led Fenton (3-4) with 15 points.

Kankakee 65, Thornridge 62-Jamie Sykes drilled six three-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points and Chris Druckery hit 13 of 14 free throws in adding 17 as Kankakee rallied from five points down with three minutes remaining to take the non-conference game. Antwan Kennedy added 16 for Kankakee (8-1).

Lyons 56, Glenbard West 30-Lyons Township (4-4, 2-2) built a 32-13 halftime lead and coasted in the West Suburban crossover with Chris Simich (13 points), Steve Liedtke (12) and Mike Thompson (11) leading the way. Glenbard West dropped to 0-8, 0-4.

Walther Lutheran 42, Luther South 37-Ed Tines had 21 points and Jeremy Meisinger 13 to lead Walther (3-6, 3-2 in the Private School League) Mike Curry had 15 for Luther (1-9, 1-4).

Waukegan 50, Libertyville 40-Waukegan (5-4) scored 21 straight points in a 10-minute run to take a 48-32 lead with two minutes to play to wrap up the non-conference home game. John Jackson scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half for the Bulldogs.

”Our defensive intensity picked up in the second half, and that was the main reason for our 21-0 run,” said Waukegan coach Frank Belmont.

Matt Sriver led Libertyville (5-4) with 12 points. Gregg Wheeler added 10.

Wheaton North 77, Willowbrook 67-Larry Jemison (12 points) hit seven points in a row in the second overtime to help Wheaton North (4-4) finally put away Willowbrook (3-5). Wheaton North needed a basket from Bart Bonga (17 points) with :40 left in the fourth quarter to tie it at 58. Then Brian Crabtree (33 points) saved Wheaton again by hitting a three-pointer that made it 64-all with :02 left in the first overtime. Willowbrook went 0 for 7 from the field in the second OT. Tom King led Willowbrook with 18 points.

Hampshire Tournament-In the first game, Robert Vinson (30 points, seven rebounds) canned a three-pointer with :05 left to lift Morgan Park Academy

(6-1) over Wheaton Christian 61-59. Robert Schaeffer added 19 points and seven assists for the victors.

In other games, Kareem Broughton netted 16 points as Cathedral (5-1)

stopped Genoa-Kingston 50-42, Kirkland-Hiawatha topped Elgin Academy 54-42 with Josh McCleary scoring 23 points and Dan Thompson 18 to lead the Whippurs over Luther East 55-32.

Toby Springer had 13 for Genoa (1-7) in its loss, Scott Swanson had 20 for Elgin Academy (4-5) in its loss and Brett Behrens` 12 points were tops for Luther East.

Jacobs Tournament-Kyle Kessel scored 22 points, Matt Brua 13 and Rob Henderson 11 as Mundelein (4-4) spilled Grant 68-64. Tim Culotta had 15 for Grant (2-9). McHenry (3-6) edged Round Lake 51-48 behind Frank Muse (17 points), Bill Hopson (13) and Stacy Dadian (10). Scott Ellenwood had 15 for Round Lake (7-3).

Cary-Grove held off a late Steinmetz rally to win 69-66 behind Andy Czysz (27 points), Paul Vandeven (16) and Vince Ferrera (13). In the final game, Conant (6-2) blitzed Jacobs with 36 fourth-quarter points for the 80-71, come- from-behind win. George Credle (21 points) and Todd Winkelhake (17) led four players in double figures. Jacobs is 2-6.
