Michael, Hope, Elliot, Nancy, Ellen, Gary and Melissa are back. Well, at least their clothing is.
Fashions designed for and inspired by characters of the angst-ridden
”thirtysomething” television series are featured in a new catalog expected to make its debut this month.
The men and women`s styles in the catalog, called thirtysomething, have been designed under the supervision of the series` costume designer, Patrick Norris.
”Some of the looks are right off the backs of Elliot, Hope and Nancy,”
says Leonard Heller, president of Apparel Resources International Ltd., which is producing the catalog through a licensing agreement with MGM/UA Television Production Group Inc.
Originally, ”thirtysomething” styles were to be purveyed in retail venues, but plans went awry when the 4-year-old series was canceled last May. Still, that hasn`t diminished the scope of what the $3 catalog will offer. It includes an array of styles ranging from T-shirts, jeans, leggings and hand-knitted sweaters a la Hope and Nancy, unusual career wear a la Ellen, retro pieces and accessories such as those sported by Melissa and Elliot and even Gary`s leather bomber jacket. Prices range from about $20 to $600.

Heller is confident that the catalog will generate fervor similar to that for the show.
”Nobody wants to lose that attachment to `thirtysomething,` ” he says.
