Say you are offered the following options: A. Winning $2,500. B. Losing 10 pounds. C. Having great sex four times in a weekend. D. Finishing a 5-mile race. What would make you happiest?
Nearly half of the more than 5,000 women and men responding to an American Health magazine survey said they`d take the cash.
And rather than a reflection of recessionary times, the magazine concludes that the results indicate a definite declining interest in sex.
”(The respondents) aren`t merely unconcerned about sex, they`re downright indifferent,” the magazine concludes in a story on the survey results, published in its December issue.
And when asked to rank priorities, having a satisfying sex life ranked seventh among eight choices for women and fifth for men.
What has become a priority? Getting and staying fit. On the average, respondents reported exercising twice as often as they have sex-14 times monthly versus seven times.
If sex has slipped, what has replaced it? Indulging in decadent dining, the survey says.
”Food is the new evil in our society,” psychologist Susan Woolery tells the magazine. ”Moral purity now centers on passing up food and getting enough exercise.”
