Looking for something a bit different in the way of architectural exploration? Try a one-hour tour of the St. Ignatius College Prep building, 1076 W. Roosevelt Rd., a municipal landmark completed in 1869 and cited by the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the quality of its ongoing restoration program.

The Jesuit high school was designed by Toussaint Menard as a masonry composition that incorporates Gothic, Italianate and Georgian details. Interior highlights include trompe l`oeil frescoes and the Brunswick Room, originally built as a museum.

Saturday tours of the school will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 19, Nov. 16, March 21, April 25 and May 16. Admission is $5 for adults, $10 for families and $3 for senior citizens. Call 312-421-5900, extension 416.
