Sally Fingerett
Unraveled (Amerisound) (STAR)(STAR)(STAR) 1/2
On her second solo album, native Chicagoan turned Ohioan Sally Fingerett gives ample proof why she won the ”new folk” award for her songwriting last year at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. One of the best lyricists on the singer-songwriter circuit, she describes a mother-child relationship
(”The Return”) and a bittersweet encounter with an old love (”Smilin`
Boy”) with equal dexterity. The album`s most arresting song, though, is
”Home Is Where the Heart Is,” which ought to be required listening in this era of post-AIDS hysteria. (Amerisound, 1331 Chesapeake, Columbus, Ohio 43212.)
