But Glenbrook South (3-0) pulled within 26-24 at halftime and scored 20 straight points in the second half for a 44-26 non-conference win. Maine West is 1-2.
Chris Strickland led Glenbrook South with 109 yards on 19 carries, including a touchdown run of 15 yards in the third quarter, giving the Titans a 30-26 lead they wouldn`t relinquish. Strickland had scored from 1 yard out in the second quarter.
Glenbrook South intercepted three passes in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.
Crystal Lake South 34, Dundee-Crown 12-Steve Gits threw 38- and 21-yard touchdown passes to Mike Reed and scored on a 12-yard run, and Brent Wyse kicked 30- and 36-yard field goals and three PATs for Crystal Lake South (1-2, 1-0) in the Fox Valley.Batavia 13, Yorkville 12-Jon LaVoy caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from John Bartkowski and the two-point conversion stood up for Batavia (2-1, 1-0) in a Little Seven matchup.-

Mark Dougherty had a 5-yard TD run, an extra point and a 29-yard field goal for De Kalb (1-2, 1-1).-
Providence 58, Fenger 0-Chris Orr tossed three touchdown passes, Jeff Schley rushed for three scores (all in the second half) and Frank Pflugradt ran for 107 yards in this non-conference rout. It was Providence`s (3-0) third straight shutout. ”Each week, I`m getting more and more confident with our defense,” said Providence coach Matt Senffner. ”They believe they can`t be scored on.”

Willowbrook 24, York 7-Rob Kirch (12 carries, 53 yards) raced 20 yards with an interception for a touchdown and booted a 33-yard field goal and three PATs as Willowbrook remained unbeaten (3-0) with the West Suburban crossover victory. Ray Scott returned a kickoff 85 yards for another Willowbrook TD. The Willowbrook defense had eight sacks and limited York (1-2) to three first downs.
Near North 18, Tilden 14-Brian Turner raced 13 yards for a touchdown, James Blakeney recovered a blocked punt by Gus Mordican in the end zone for another score and Bryant Coleman dashed 79 yards with a kickoff for what proved to be the winning score as Near North (2-1) built an 18-6 lead and held on at Lane Stadium. Richard Kimble, who had thrown a 30-yard touchdown pass to Mike Gagen for Tilden`s first score, caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Leonard Thomas and ran for the two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to make it close. Tilden`s last scoring threat was thwarted when Turner recovered a fumble for Near North with 2:30 left in the game.

Harper (1-2) staged a mini-comeback when quarterback/cornerback Kenneth Gresham recovered a fumble and ran 96 yards for a score just before the half. Gresham began the second half by sneaking in from the 2-yard line after hitting Roger White with a 73-yard pass to set up the score.
