Impatient about waiting around for delivery of home furnishings or under pressure to decorate quickly and affordably?
Home Ltd., a large self-service, everything-stocked-to-take-home-today store, which will open Wednesday in Lombard, might be the answer. And even if you don`t need so much as a night light, the store is bound to attract huge opening crowds, curious to check out the free child care and on-site restaurant.
The first in a projected chain, Home will boast three acres of space with 7,000 items displayed in a model apartment, 50 room settings and 17 shops focusing on goods such as dinnerware, floor coverings and closet organizers.
With the exception of upholstery, most furniture will be ready-to-assemble, says president Joanna Bradshaw. Prices will range from about $300 to $600 for a fabric sofa, and $18 to $119 for a dining chair. Prices are guaranteed until July 31, 1992.
The company, which has mailed catalogs to a million homes to introduce itself to local consumers, may be new, but its founders are veteran retailers, who are implementing shopper-friendly ideas, such as in-store child care.
Home Ltd. is at 1000 Rohlwing Rd., Lombard. Grand opening store hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
