Anyone who ever has left home dreams of returning a success. Sculptor Jeff Adams gets to live that fantasy.

Adams is making a special homecoming to Oregon, Ill. to show his work to the community that molded him in his craft.

During high school, he worked part-time in a bronze foundry before going off to Northern Arizona University for a degree in civil engineering. ”It was coincidence, or maybe timing,” he says, that cast his fate in another direction.

”There was a heavy slump in construction at that time, and there weren`t any jobs. I was forced to make a living by heading back into sculpture.”

And while an art foundry is unusual in a place like Oregon-just south of Rockford-there were three in Sedona, Ariz., where he now lives. He developed an art nouveau-like style that depicts forces of wind and waves and elusive emotions in a way that makes the bronze seem to ”float.”

”Getting that flow and feel of the motion into the piece is the real challenge, and what makes my work unique,” he says.

His show in Oregon (”There`s just an awful lot of teachers and friends there”) will be at Pinehill Bed and Breakfast, 400 Mix St., on Sept. 8 from 2 to 6 p.m. Call 815-732-2061.
