George Bell suffered a bruised left forearm when he was hit by a Mike Hartley fastball Sunday. Bell left the game and might miss Monday night`s series opener in Montreal.
”It`s something I`ll live with,” Bell said. ”I`ve got to wait and see how I feel tomorrow.”
It was a rough week for the Cubs left-fielder, who chipped a filling in a head-to-head collision with shortstop Shawon Dunston four days ago.
Bell was Hartley`s second victim in a wild sixth inning. The hard-throwing righty opened the inning by plunking Ryne Sandberg in the elbow. Sandberg glared at Hartley all the way down the first base line, but after the game said he doubted Hartley was headhunting while trying to protect a one-run lead.
”I just reacted, and that was it,” Sandberg said. ”I don`t think he was trying to hit me.”
Self-robbery: Dunston robbed himself of a double in the 10th inning. He pulled up short of second base on his game-winning hit to the left-field corner, which scored Sandberg from second base. Official scorer Bob Rosenberg said Dunston would have been credited with a double if he had stepped on second.
Wilson farmed out: After the game, Steve Wilson was demoted to Triple-A Iowa for the second time this season. Wilson was replaced by right-handed reliever Scott May, who went 4-4 with nine saves and a 2.79 ERA at Iowa. He walked 50 and fanned 90 in 90 1/3 innings.
Castillo on mend: Frank Castillo will throw lightly on the sidelines Monday in Montreal and hopes to pitch off a mound Tuesday.
”It`s about 95 percent,” Castillo said of his sore right shoulder. He could return Aug. 26, but the Cubs don`t plan to rush him back.

”We know it`s not a serious injury,” manager Jim Essian said. ”We`d like to see him throw a little softly on the side and go from there.”
Let`s play OT: Sunday`s game was the 19th extra-inning game for both the Cubs and the Phils, tying them for the major-league lead. It was the sixth extra-inning game between the clubs this year.
