Ever wish you could ask an interior designer why a room was designed in a specific way?
Curious consumers have the opportunity to do just that during tours of the new Marshall Field`s Fall, 1991 Trend House.
Representing a villa in Tuscany, the showhouse on the eighth floor of Field`s State Street store is based on the theme ”Italia in America” and combines old and new.
The Trend House, which in recent years had reflected the vision of former vice president David Snyder, now spotlights Field`s Interior Design Studio staff.
Five designers, whose work usually is seen only in private homes, worked on the twice-yearly project.
Anthony Nie`s dramatic library is dominated by a huge carved lion`s head fireplace. Classic motifs conjure a Florentine mood in Janice Hegarty`s sitting room. Barbara Kosirog showcases the bright color of contemporary Italian design in a Milanese dining room. Norma Koziol and Judith Maier do a Venetian bedroom and a modern living room, respectively.
Also introduced with the room settings was Richard-Ginoribone china and luxury Anichini Linens.
Trend House tours will be conducted by participating designers from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday, through Aug. 17.
