Superstar house: Basketball superstar Michael Jordan is doing for west Highland Park what builders and real estate agents have been trying to do for years. The west side of Highland Park, while attractively upscale, has never had the same kind of prestige or saleability as east Highland Park. That was, until Jordan decided to build a home on several acres of property on the city`s northwest side.
”Now, that whole area is going great guns. It`s making west Highland Park much more desirable,” said Merle Kirsner-Styer, an agent with Kahn Realty.
The previously undeveloped area was once farmland. It has been subdivided into large lots for the construction of new, upper-bracket houses.

Jordan`s house, now under construction, will sit on an immense double lot. The design of the house is being kept strictly under wraps. Although there is little to see from the road, the construction site, just off Illinois Highway 22, is already drawing drive-by curiosity seekers who hope to catch a glimpse of Jordan`s new house.
