We all know the drill. When nature calls in public places, it`s crossed legs time as we queue up in an assuredly long line at the ladies` room.
Yet, at one of Chicago`s largest theaters, the problem seems to have been remedied. Because of a powder-room patrol that scouts empty stalls and directs the patron traffic, women attending Auditorium Theatre presentations are assured of only a brief wait.
Using female ushers, the system ensures that up to 500 female bathroom-goers make it back to their seats after the 20-minute intermission in ”Les Miserables.”
Most are appreciative of the orchestration, says Andy Frain Inc.`s Carol Rohan, though some have found it ”a little gruff.”
Still, she says the prodding is ”not designed to make them feel like cattle. We want them to be comfortable.”
