– Weber 55, De La Salle 54-Demond Hawkins drove the length of the floor and hit an 8-foot jumper with :03 left to give No. 19 Weber (21-4, 11-2) the victory at No. 16 De La Salle, giving the Red Horde a share of the Catholic League South title with the Meteors (17-7, 11-2).

”We were going to just run a clear out for (point guard) Jevon Hobbs but it just didn`t work out that way,” said Weber coach John Bonk, who called the victory the biggest of his career.

”I wanted the ball real bad because I knew I could take it to the hole and make the shot,” Hawkins said.

Hawkins led the Meteors with 18 points and Kevin Gerredine added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Weber, while Aminu Timberlake scored 16 for De La Salle.

– D.G. South 77, Willowbrook 63-Downers South (14-12, 5-7) breezed behind Jason Foote (21 points) and Markeith Hutson (16). Keith Anderson had 17 for Willowbrook (6-17, 2-9).

– Elgin 70, Streamwood 52-Steve Patton had 18 points and Brina Hensgen 17 to lead Elgin (14-11, 7-7 in the Upstate Eight).

– Glenbard South 72, Naperville Central 48-Greg Bloedorn`s 20 points sparked Glenbard (17-7, 11-3 in the Du Page Valley).

– Oswego 65, Plainfield 54-Oswego (17-7, 10-4 in the Little Seven) got 19 points each from Bill Randles and Matt Rapp.

– St. Patrick 64, Benet 52-Brian Kopf and Frank Garcia had matching figures

(20 points, eight rebounds) as St. Patrick (21-4, 11-2) built a 39-32 halftime lead and coasted in the East Suburban Catholic. Kevin McGillen and Neal Fitzgerald had 16 apiece for Benet (15-9, 8-5).

– Wheaton Central 72, West Chicago 39-Jeff Stowasser`s 19 points led Wheaton

(15-10, 9-5 in the Du Page Valley).
