By the sound of Toronto General Manager Floyd Smith`s rhetoric, the Blackhawks aren`t likely to make a minor deal that would being Maple Leaf John Kordic to Chicago.
”Anybody who wants John is going to have to pay a big price,” Smith insisted of a player he recently cut loose from his minor-league club because he was a disruptive influence.
Kordic contacted Keenan through his agent to arrange last Monday`s meeting in Detroit between the two. Keenan won`t even consider a deal for Kordic unless Smith wants next to nothing for him.
With Smith demanding a big price and also accusing Keenan of
”tampering” by having that discussion with Kordic, the chances for the right wing to end up a Hawk seem slim.
