Here are the minimum temperature requirements set forth by Chicago, Oak Park and Evanston (the three municipalities that have their own tenant laws)
for landlord-heated apartments:
– Chicago: 68 degrees from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; 63 degrees from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; and 65 degrees from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Complaints about inadequate heat should be directed to the Mayor`s Office of Inquiry and Information, 744-5000.
– Oak Park: 70 degrees from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; 65 degrees from 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Complaints should be directed to the code administration, 708-383-6400.
– Evanston: 68 degrees from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; 60 degrees from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.; and 65 degrees from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Complaints should be directed to property maintenance, 708-866-2927.
– Illinois: Same requirements as Chicago`s.
