Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Going on vacation? Here`s how to make it miserable.

– Don`t make reservations at a motel, hotel or national park. Just assume you`ll get in.

– Don`t bring enough money.

– Don`t pack until 45 minutes before you`re ready to leave.

– Let someone else do your packing, then get angry when you find he or she didn`t pack your fishing boots.

– If you`re flying, get to the airport at the very last minute so you`ll have to push through the crowd and rush for the plane.

– Complain about the heat, the traffic and the cost of food.

– When plans get changed at the last minute because of the weather, or to accommodate someone else, be sure to get angry and then pout so everyone knows you`re irritated.

– Take your children to places where they are expected to behave in a way that is beyond their years.

– Take the children to four museums and the zoo in one day. Make sure you see every sight there is to see.

– Use all the time you have in the car to criticize, lecture and bring up family problems.

– Hold onto the philosophy that because this is a family vacation everyone should do everything together.

– If you`re the driver, yell at the person who is reading the map if you happen to get lost.

– Feel like the vacation is ruined if you miss a particular attraction. And don`t miss an opportunity to tell everyone how unfair it is.

– Expect that there will be no hitches, problems or hassles because this is a vacation.

If you take the time to think through ways that you might make your vacation miserable, you`ll be more likely to avoid these pitfalls. And later, when someone says, ”How was your vacation?” you can honestly say, ”It was really fun.”
