A back-to-the-home movement in the `90s is foreseen by the editors of a new quarterly magazine devoted to providing ”hands-on and down-to-earth information for independent family living.”

Fourteen former staff members of Mother Earth News have created BackHome, published in, appropriately, Mountain Home, N.C.

”The home has become each family`s front line in the fight for healthful food, financial independence, strong values and a clean environment,” says Bruce Woods, editor-in-chief.

Woods emphasizes that the magazine defines ”home” not only in the conventional sense, but also in the larger context of community and planet.

”We take the view that in order to live well and live responsibly in the

`90s, you have to consider all these things together.”

Typical stories in the first issue range from ”War on Weeds” to ”Shop for a Used Truck Without Fear.”

A one-year subscription (four issues) costs $16. The premiere issue is available at many newsstands for $4. For more information, contact BackHome at Box 370, Mountain Home, N.C. (phone 704-696-3838).
