player ready...Consumers willing to wait until this summer for design help will have a new reference book. Toney Architectural Digest magazine is joining the ranks of those publishing an interior design directory for consumers, but don`t expect to find much information about Chicago interior design stars.
Dubbed ”The AD 100,” the special edition is scheduled to appear July 31 and will include pictures and pertinent information, including the staff size and fees, of ”100 of the top interior designers whose work has appeared in our magazine,” says Paige Rense, AD`s editor.
Designer Bruce Gregga is the only Chicagoan to make Rense`s cut. Though few are disputing Gregga`s selection, some wonder if Rense didn`t shortchange the city`s design talent.
”Unbelievable” and ”shocking” were one person`s reaction to the omission of several other leading lights of local interior design.
International in scope and drawing mostly on work that has appeared during the last decade in AD`s pages, the source book will be free to subscribers but will cost $10 for those who pick it up at a newsstand.
