Between them, Waubonsie`s two post men scored 23 of their team`s 33 first-half points. Broderson had 14 of his 19 points before intermission while Poulakidas scored 9 of his 18 points.

For Lyons coach Ron Nikcevich, the way his team did it was just as important. He recalled one play where Kris Olson stole the ball and passed to Ken Williams, who passed to Brian Nelson, who passed to Tom Skahill for the basket.
”That was an absolutely brilliant play,” Nikcevich said. ”You couldn`t ask for a better brand of basketball. Frankly, the kids enjoy it (passing). It makes for an enjoyable brand of basketball.”
Williams led Lyons with 23 points and 4 steals; John Hornacek had 15 and 7 assists, and Skahill had 12 and 9 rebounds. Lyons hit 66 percent of its shots (39 of 59) and had 19 assists as a team. Joe Caracci had 12 for Stagg
