The Bears may be winners, but their fans are losers.

That`s the opinion of Bill Kohn. It probably won`t surprise you to hear that Kohn hails from Minnesota and was at last Sunday`s game in Soldier Field when the Bears whipped the Vikings 38-7.

”Chicago Bears fans are the worst in the world,” said Kohn, who regularly takes groups to sporting events through his business-Sports Fan Inc. in Eden Prairie, Minn. ”And I`ve been all over-San Francisco, New York. They`re terrible in San Francisco, but not like Chicago.”

Kohn claims he was physically abused at last Sunday`s game. ”Before the game starts, they`re sticking their middle fingers up at us,” said Kohn, who was a visible target with his Vikings cap and purple and white shirt. ”I was walking up the aisle and some big guy, maybe about 30 years old, grabbed me and tried to throw me down the steps.

”I boxed in the Navy, you know,” said the 64-year-old Kohn, ”so I threw him into a seat. I said `Don`t bother me.` But he followed me down the ramp, hassling me.”

Kohn said he sought help from security but said the process for filing a complaint seemed so long ”I let it go.” He added, ”There are always problems in Chicago.” Kohn hasn`t seen Bear fans treated badly in the Metrodome: ”Vikings fans treat out-of-town fans beautifully.”

Kohn thinks Green Bay Packer fans drink more alcohol than Bear fans.

”But they`re happy drunks (in Green Bay),” he said. ”Chicago has mean drunks. The worst language is in Chicago. And the security is very poor. They don`t throw anybody out. In Green Bay, they throw tons of them out.”
