Patrick Kelly, 7, of Cicero decided to send in his recipe for Mickey Mouse pancakes to the Food Guide`s Summer Recipe Contest for two good reasons. ”They are easy and fun to make,” stated the letter from Patrick. ”And they can even make my 5-year-old sister smile when she wakes up real crabby.” Patrick won an honorable mention for his homemade buttermilk pancakes served with cherries, chocolate chips, raisins and other garnishes for making a face.
Patrick said that he got the idea from a restaurant where they served pancakes with faces on them. Back home, Patrick`s mom makes the pancakes, and he and his sister Lana, 5, make the faces.
”I like to make a mouse with cherry eyes and nose and a raisins mouth,” Patrick said. –
